Divide and Conquer

If any of you have ever read the Art of War, you’ll know this line fairly well – not only because it is a line that somewhat famous, but for most cases, it is absolutely a true and legitimate tactic. It seems that liberals and news media are absolutely and desperately intent to keep the people divided (Trayvon Martin anyone?). Divided by class, income, race, religion, sexual preference, diet, where you live, what you do for a living, what kind of car you drive, and more or less anything else that makes you different. Well, let’s face it people – we are country of people who are all different, but that by no means that we should be totally divided because of one thing or another.

As I read through the transcript of Ann Romney’s speech last night, I have to say that I was somewhat impressed. I have not been the biggest Romney supporter, though I have the mentality that I will vote for the person who is closest to my political ideals. I think that if you are waiting around for a perfect candidate, it’s probably not going to happen – in any event Ann Romney’s speech hit the nail on the head of exactly the way I feel.

She starts out her speech saying that she could basically talk about anything she wanted as the issues are obviously numerous (from a horrible economy to government lying and hiding things from the people) and that she would rather talk about love. I’m going to quote a few things she said and comment on it. She said “I want to talk to you about that love so deep only a mother can fathom it — the love we have for our children and our children’s children.” She continues by saying – “And I want us to think tonight about the love we all share for those Americans, our brothers and sisters, who are going through difficult times, whose days are never easy, nights are always long, and whose work never seems done. They are here among us tonight in this hall; they are here in neighborhoods across Tampa and all across America. The parents who lie awake at night side by side, wondering how they’ll be able to pay the mortgage or make the rent; the single dad who’s working extra hours tonight, so that his kids can buy some new clothes to go back to school, can take a school trip or play a sport, so his kids can feel… like the other kids.”

Tell me, does this sound like a lady who is a xenophobe? Does this sound like a lady who detests black people for no other reason because they are black? Does this sound like a woman who just can’t stand the sight of a Muslim for no other reason than that they practice a faith that is not hers? Read the entire transcript. You won’t find anything in there that mentions anything against anybody.

The exact quote from The Art of War goes something like this “… The art of using troops is this: When ten to the enemy’s one, surround him; When five times his strength, attack him; If double his strength, divide him”. I’m not saying that there are not racist homophobic xenophobes out there that happen to be Republican. That very well may be the case – but hey, guess what – this is America. In the real America, that person has their own right to feel and think however they want – just as you do.

And you absolutely can’t tell me that the media and the government does not do this. Mitt Romney is a Mormon. He is one of those rich people. No, how about this… How about he is just a guy who made something of himself and who wants a better America for himself and for his kids. Isn’t that what we all want? The more we let these people divide us, the more control they have.

I find that the “other side” (political left) is far, far worse at this. Where is the good Reverend Jackson and the good Reverend Sharpton when tons of black kids are dying in Chicago? They don’t matter, no, because they weren’t killed by a white dude. Where is Obama when a black kid in Florida killed two British kids in cold blood – because they didn’t have any money? They aren’t black, so they must not look his son… if he had a son. I’m not trying to rag on a black kid, but seriously – watch this video:

And Obama can’t seem to say a word about those two kids… Why? There is no benefit to him (unlike Mr. Trayvon Martin). With Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Rahm Emanuel, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and quite a few others on the left… It’s not about the truth, or keeping America together under one flag. It’s about what’s convenient at the time. It’s about what gets you some more votes. It’s about finding something to divide the people.
